Biography
Dr. Laurie A. LeMonds was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky where she began her devotion to animal care. Before graduating high school, she had acquired hundreds of volunteer hours with local veterinary hospitals and shelters. While attending the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, she spent her respites in Kentucky to gain additional experience in both small and large animal medicine. It was during her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree marine biology that she decided to transition veterinary medicine. She became the president of the University’s pre-veterinary medical association that provided philanthropic work for the New Hanover County area.
Following her acceptance into Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, she had working internships in numerous fields of the profession – wildlife, corporate, marine and zoo medicine. She also became C.E.R.T. certified in Lee County, Alabama to assist those impacted by natural disasters. Following graduation in 2017, Dr. LeMonds joined corporate medicine in Washington state. In addition to working full-time, she traveled and worked alongside Dr. Isaac Bott with his reproductive services for various cervid species.
In December 2019, Dr. LeMonds joined Mountain West Animal Hospital in Springville, Utah. Since, she has remained an active member of the community while providing affordable veterinary services to local shelters and pet owners. Recently, she co-authored her first scientific publication describing innovative reindeer anesthetic and surgical procedures. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her personal pets – Chesley, a geriatric calico cat, and Seagar, an aquatic turtle.
