Biography

Amanda Thomas, a little bit about myself… Growing up I have always had a competitive drive and desire to be the strongest and the best at anything I did. Fast forward to adulthood… using that determination I had growing up, I entered the EMS world through volunteering at the Cedar Fort Fire Department where I served the community for 16 plus years, ultimately being appointed Deputy Chief from 2000-2011. Side notes and fun facts about me… I have competed in multiple bodybuilding competitions locally and have qualified to compete on the national level several times. These competitions have tested me personally on many different levels both mentally and physically. In 2011 I left the Fire Department and took a position at MTECH in the EMS Department as an instructor and AHA (American Heart Association) Training Officer. In 2014, I took over the program. I had the privilege to coordinate the instruction and education of students through both EMT and AEMT courses, being responsible for the training and the management of multiple instructors located at all MTECH campuses which are in Lehi, Orem, and Spanish Fork.

In 2019 I left MTECH to restart my business, Elite 1st Response, which provides Emergency Medical Services education, training, preparation, certifications, and recertification to corporate workplaces, refineries, Industrial workplaces, Power Plants, schools, and civilians.

In addition to running my own company, I have been an Instructor with UVU (Utah Valley University) for the past four years. During this time, I have coordinated and instructed EMR, EMT, and AEMT courses.

My certifications include EMT, AEMT, EMR, AHA Instructor, BLS, ACLS, PHTLS, PALS, Stop the Bleed Instructor, and TECC-LEO Instructor.

I am extremely passionate about EMS and helping educate students and individuals] to enter the field with the best quality training possible.
