This course reviews the five most frequently encountered EMS calls, providing participants with practical strategies for patient assessment, clinical decision-making, and evidence-based prehospital management. Through case-based discussions and review of current EMS practices, learners will strengthen their ability to recognize life-threatening conditions, prioritize interventions, and deliver safe, effective patient care.
Objectives:
- Identify the key assessment findings associated with the five most common EMS patient presentations.
- Apply evidence-based treatment protocols and appropriate prehospital interventions for each common EMS call type.
- Demonstrate clinical decision-making skills by prioritizing patient care based on assessment findings and potential life threats.
- Evaluate patient responses to treatment and determine appropriate transport decisions, ongoing reassessment, and communication with receiving facilities.
