Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
What does that title have to do with this class? Nothing… but I couldn’t find anything to rhyme with pig guts and pieces parts. We take pig plucks and deep dive into the airway, lungs and other treatment modalities by using actual pig tracheas and lungs.
Objectives:
- Identify and review the anatomy of the airway and respiratory system using actual porcine trachea and lungs as anatomical models.
- Demonstrate proper airway assessment and management techniques, including recognition of anatomical challenges and potential airway complications.
- Describe the pathophysiology of common respiratory emergencies and relate anatomical findings to patient presentation and treatment.
- Apply hands-on knowledge of airway and pulmonary anatomy to improve clinical decision-making and treatment of respiratory emergencies in the prehospital setting.
