Biography

Dr. Cary Harrison grew up in New Mexico and California, and got her undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico in marketing. After working seven years in banking and stock brokerage firms, she returned to school and went to Duke University School of Medicine on a Navy scholarship. She did her internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego, then worked as a flight surgeon with the Marines in Okinawa, Japan.

She returned to San Diego three years later for ophthalmology residency, followed by tours in Yokosuka, Japan, Jacksonville, Florida and Naples, Italy. She did a tour in Afghanistan as a hospital systems mentor, then returned to the US to complete her 27 year Naval career in Portsmouth, VA. During that time she worked as a staff ophthalmologist, a hospital Chief Medical Officer, then as the Chief Medical Officer for one of the two Navy Medical regions.

She retired from Navy Medicine on December 1, 2021 and began her career with HCA on December 6, 2021. She is currently the Chief Medical Officer for Timpanogos Regional Hospital and Mountain View Hospital. She no longer practices ophthalmology, but still loves talking about eye trauma.
