Jake Hammer, Manager Hazardous Materials, Union Pacific Railroad

Jake Hammer is responsible for hazardous materials and environmental incident prevention, preparedness, response and recovery in Idaho and surrounding states. 

Jake joined Union Pacific Railroad in 2015 after serving both as a Hazardous Materials Technician and as a Hazardous Materials Manager. His experience has provided him with a diverse knowledgebase including fire science, technical rescue, emergency medical technician, and hazardous materials response. He graduated high school in Gillette, WY, and has been pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety.  

When he isn’t on duty with UP, Jake spends time with his family, working out, and traveling the country to compete in fishing tournaments.
