Biography

 

Mekel Jones

Mekel Jones is the Opioid Response Coordinator for the Utah County Health Department. She is a proud University of Utah alumna and has been a Certified Health Education Specialist for six years. Mekel is passionate about promoting evidence-based prevention strategies and educating the community on naloxone, a life-saving medication. Outside of her professional endeavors, Mekel enjoys playing soccer, listening to audiobooks, and cuddling her two adorable cats.

Wendy Wright

Wendy Wright has been a Certified Health Educator at the Utah County Health Department for six years, with a focus on opioid use and overdose prevention for the past three years. Her tenure at the department has also included valuable contributions to programs such as asthma management, tobacco prevention, radon awareness, household hazardous waste, and child passenger safety. A resident of Utah for 29 years, Wendy and her husband have raised five children. She enjoys exploring our beautiful state through hiking —particularly its slot canyons—playing racquetball, and reading historical fiction.

Polly Murdock

Polly Murdock is a health educator with the Utah County Health Department’s Health Promotion and Prevention Division. In her role, she contributes to the Opioid Response Team and provides support to the Utah County Communities That Care coalitions. Polly is a Certified Health Education Specialist dedicated to advancing public health initiatives.

In her personal life, Polly is married to an awesome high school counselor and is a mother to four kids and one mischievous corgi. She has a passion for reading, which she loves almost as much as she loves the ocean.

Bonnie Hargreaves

Bonnie has over 20 years of experience in public health, with the past 5 years focused specifically on opioid misuse prevention. She finds great fulfillment in observing individuals enhance their lives by adopting healthy choices. In her spare time, Bonnie enjoys traveling with her family, preparing delicious meals, engaging in regular exercise, and reading.
