Biography

Shawn Salter is a Registered Nurse, Paramedic and Executive Leader with more than 40-years of healthcare experience.

He currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of CHRISTUS EMS & CHRISTUS Flight For Life, which are entities that provide emergent pre-hospital and inter-facility transport of critically ill and injured patients throughout northeast Texas.

As a clinician, Shawn has worked as a Paramedic, EMS Educator, EMS Chief, Flight Paramedic, Surgical ICU Nurse and Flight Nurse. He also previously served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff and Tactical Medic for a multi-agency enforcement & response team.

Shawn served two-terms on the Board of Directors for the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS), representing seven (7) states, where he was a member of the Executive Committee and chaired the Standards Committee. He is also the Past-President of the Texas Association of Air Medical Services (TAAMS).

Shawn remains an active participant in regional, state and national organizations that focus on improving the safety and quality of emergency ground and air transport. He currently serves as Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s appointee to the Governor’s EMS & Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC) where he serves as the Vice-Chair of the “Systems Collaborative for Outcome Review” and as the liaison to the Air Medical and Specialty Care Transport Committee. Shawn also serves as the Chair the Piney Woods Regional Advisory Council coordinating emergency care and disaster response within the 19-county region.

Shawn is a proud Texan by birth and resides in the city of Bullard with his beautiful wife, Tiffany. They have one daughter, Abigail, who is attending Texas Tech University.
