Biography
Angela Washenko, is a Heart Failure, Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) Nurse Coordinator at the University of Utah Hospital where she has been for over thirteen years. For the past 3 and a half years she has been in the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) field as a VAD Coordinator. Presently her work is focused in community outreach. Providing education to referring providers in 20 different states bringing awareness and resources of advanced heart failure therapy treatment options while building shared care partnerships with hospitals and clinics. She has also worked as a Trauma ICU nurse, and Interventional Radiology Stroke Team nurse.
She earned her Bachelors in Nursing Science from Weber State University where she graduated Cum Laude Honors in Nursing. Working with heart failure patients is a particular passion of Angela’s. She is excited to bring about change to this patient population through research and evidence based practice. She is a board member of International Consortium Circulatory Assist Clinicians (ICCAC) in addition to serving as a member of the research and communications committees of ICCAC.
In her free time she enjoys the arts, outdoors and traveling.
