When Joy Feels Heavy – Behind the Mask of Postpartum Depression
Postpartum depression is one of the most common, yet least discussed, complications of childbirth. In Utah, rates of maternal depression and anxiety remain among the highest in the nation—impacting not only mothers, but families and communities as a whole. This keynote presentation explores the realities of postpartum depression through data, imagery, and reflection, helping first responders and community professionals recognize early warning signs and understand how their awareness and response can change lives. Participants will gain deeper insight into the emotional and physical manifestations of postpartum depression and learn strategies for responding with empathy, support, and confidence.
