PRE-CON – Confined Space Entry Rescue – Hands On #1

Join Joe for this hands-on preconference workshop focused on confined space entry rescue. Participants will work through realistic vertical and horizontal rescue scenarios, using mechanical advantage systems to safely remove a non-ambulatory patient. Joe’s specialized rescue prop will simulate confined space entrapment, allowing attendees to apply their skills in realistic rescue scenarios. Throughout the exercises, participants will assess confined space hazards, evaluate entry conditions, and make critical decisions regarding scene safety before committing to a rescue. This interactive workshop is designed to help emergency responders become more familiar with confined space hazards, recognize conditions that are most likely to result in an entrant injury, and evaluate the changes that may be necessary before a safe and effective rescue can begin.

Objectives:

  • Identify common confined space hazards and recognize conditions that may result in an entrant injury.
  • Evaluate entry conditions and determine the safety measures necessary before initiating a confined space rescue.
  • Demonstrate basic vertical and horizontal rescue techniques, including the use of mechanical advantage systems to safely remove a non-ambulatory patient during simulated rescue scenarios.
