Don’t Push – OB Field Deliveries

Right about REM sleep, at 0200, rural EMS is dispatched to a “woman in labor”.  Upon arrival, your team finds a 30-year-old female complaining of painful contractions, ruptured amniotic membranes, and telling you “The baby is Coming.  My lab labor was really fast”.  Out of hospital deliveries are the cause of anxiety for first responders’ even the most seasons EMS person is thinking “don’t push”.  While most deliveries occur in the hospital, it is import for EMS providers to reorient themselves and be prepared to assist with field deliveries.
