Dangers of Texting While Driving

Prehospital Care Practitioners all know and understand the dangers of Texting and Driving although some still do it!

This session is designed to help First Responders drive safer and be better prepared to respond to incidents where wrecks have occurred because of texting while driving. The National Safety Council reports that 50% of teenagers admit that they text while driving and 81% of all the other U.S. drivers admit to texting while driving. Annually about 3,000 people die while calling or texting while driving.

During this session we will discuss current U.S. statistics and recent data. We will discuss how drivers are easily distracted and will take a close look at the list of distractions.

Ambulances and other emergency vehicles are responsible for about 8,000 crashes annually. During this session we will look at some of the unsafe practices of First Responders.

We will also take time to watch a powerful PSA from the Zero Fatality program. We will also review the penalties that some states have in place to deal with drivers who Text while Driving.
