Biography
Dr. Nichole Berge is a firefighter/paramedic, educator, and scholar with more than 15 years of experience in EMS and healthcare education. She holds a PhD in Higher Education Leadership, with research focused on EMS education and innovative program development. Dr. Berge began her career as a volunteer EMT in rural Utah and now serves full-time as a firefighter with the North Fork Fire Department, where she leads training initiatives and oversees EMS operations, including mental health support for providers.
She also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Ohio University, teaching cultural competency and patient advocacy. In addition, she works with EMT Utah to develop the next generation of EMS professionals. Dr. Berge has presented nationally at EMS World Expo and NAEMSP on evidence-based airway management, contributed internationally to the development of an EMS program in Morocco, and recently completed a research study with Global Medic for the Department of Defense. Earlier this year, she was honored with the Utah Valley Hospital Excellence in EMS Award in recognition of her lifesaving work as a paramedic.
Outside of her professional life, Nichole treasures making memories with her husband, children, and especially her eleven grandchildren, who keep life joyful, busy, and full of adventure.
