Biography

Karie Haws started her career as a RN at the University of Utah Hospital, in the Emergency Room, where she spent fifteen rewarding years. During that time, she was Charge Nurse and Clinical Nurse Coordinator. She also had the opportunity to be the EMS liaison for several surrounding fire departments. One of her key achievements was actively helping with the ECMO program and incorporating EMS from the scene into the program, which significantly improved patient outcomes. Afterward, she spent a short time with St. Mark’s Hospital and Lone Peak Hospital, where she worked as their EMS Director where she led several successful initiatives to enhance emergency services.

Currently she has found her home, dream job, with Utah Valley Hospital Trauma Services as the Injury Prevention and Outreach Coordinator where she focuses on developing and implementing programs to reduce injuries and improve community health. With her current position she has been able to serve on the EMS State Protocol committee and frequently picks up shifts in the ER at Utah Valley and Heber Valley Hospital.
