“Putting the Pieces Together: A National Effort to Complete the U.S. Trauma System,” we’ll take a look at the history of trauma care and the trauma system in America. We’ll explore partnerships with the military to translate battlefield lessons to the homefront and back again, the challenges facing America’s trauma systems, and the steps leading experts are taking to fill the gaps in the system and achieve the goal of zero preventable deaths and disability from injury.
Objectives:
- To articulate the historical evolution and current state of the U.S. trauma system, emphasizing the critical role of civilian-military partnerships in advancing trauma care and reducing preventable deaths and disabilities.
- To identify and analyze the existing gaps and challenges within the U.S. trauma system, highlighting the economic burden of trauma care and the need for a unified, learning system to ensure equitable access to optimal care for all injured patients.
- To inspire action and promote awareness regarding the “neglected epidemic” of trauma, fostering a deeper understanding of the efforts being made to create a robust national/state trauma system and encouraging engagement in initiatives aimed at achieving zero preventable deaths and disability from injury.
