“Just Breathe” offers a clear and practical approach to the assessment and management of patients experiencing respiratory emergencies. Differentiating between conditions like COPD, CHF, and infections can be challenging, but this session will break down the complexities of the respiratory system into an understandable and actionable sequence of assessment and treatment. Whether you’re providing care at the ALS or BLS level, this lecture will equip you with the tools to confidently identify and manage a variety of respiratory conditions. By focusing on both the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how to effectively treat the “breather” patient in critical situations.
Objectives:
- Understand the anatomy and physiology underlying reactive airway diseases, congestive heart failure, and respiratory infections, and how these conditions impact the respiratory system.
- Accurately assess and identify a range of respiratory conditions, differentiating between common ailments such as COPD, CHF, and respiratory infections.
- Implement aggressive and appropriate treatment strategies for various respiratory emergencies, tailored to the specific needs of each patient.
